Good afternoon beautiful people!! I wanted to touch base about my tests I had a few weeks back. As I had previously blogged in previous posts…I am having issues with Acid Reflux and I had to have a colonscopy because cancer runs in my family. Anyway I had Endoscopy and then I had a colonscopy that the doctor was unable to complete because I was full of shit. Now here the thing…. They were trying to schedule another colonscopy. The insurance wouldn’t approve that. So here comes the doctor letting me know they had scheduled a X-Ray.
Now Lets stop right there and let’s think about this for a dang minute. The procedures was anything but a normal X-Ray. You know I thought I would go in there after refraining from eating and drinking only fluids except for any juice that was the color red and purple and just lay on the table and they would x-ray my lower body parts. Man was my butt wrong!!!
Let me explain what a Barium Enema is …. first it is an x-ray examination of the colon. This examination evaluates every part of the colon and the rectum. The appendix and a portion of the distal small intestine may also be included. Second they made me lay on the examination table and an starter x-ray is taken to ensure the bowel is clear of any fecus. Then the radiologist and her partner insert a small balloon tube into a part of my bottom that I only used to release waste from. Oh my goodness….. the radiologist was saying “relax and breath you are tightening up.” I told her in my high pitch squeaky voice….. “don’t nothing usually enter that place…. what do you expect.” The Muscle was protecting me really well… she finally got it position after I said every cuss words in the book and begin to fill my colon with a mixture of barium and water. Air was also injected through the tube to help the barium thoroughly coat the lining of the colon. Next, a series of x-ray images is taken while I was moved around into all kinds of positions. Man. When they finally got finished and I got to go to the restroom… It was a on. One thing I learned was when I have my next examination for colon next time I will make sure that I do the colonscopy … That Barium Enema was awful.
Nevertheless everything came back clear. The endoscopy didn’t see anything that could be causing the Acid reflux and the Barium Anema was also clear. I don’t have to have another one for five years. Wooo… Wiping my forehead. That’s was something else. I hope that wasn’t to much information folks. Lmbo… If you learned anything from my experience always choose the colonscopy. What’s a little IV and needle compared to being ballooned from one of your most private area.
Side note: Please let the radiologist know you have had weight loss surgery because they was having trouble seeing all of my colon. Until I reminded them that I had weight loss surgery.
Good morning beautiful people! I know I have fell off on my blogging but I am going through a really rough time right now mentally. I am just taking it one day at a time and anything extra just takes a lot out of me.. However even though I am struggling mentally. My weight always stays at the forefront of my mind. I refuse to let this mental stuff make me gain weight. I am focusing on my weight more than anything and I am trying to maintain and make sure I am keeping those pounds away. I am still walking and I am in the process of adding more miles.
Now I could never really air what is going on in my personal life but it really life changing and it is causing problems big time. I just stay prayed up and try to keep GOD first however it is still hard. I think we all have our lows and highs that we all struggle with everyday. I just feel that at this time my mental bags are extra heavy. Those suckers are really dragging me down and putting a damper on my spirits.
Now that is enough about my mental struggles and lets talk ABOUT my results from the Endoscopy and colonoscopy. The endoscopy came out great and they did not find anything wrong however I am still fighting acid reflux and I am taking 3 medications for it. Also my colonoscopy was failed…after going to the bathroom over 100 times in a 8 hour period. I was informed that I was still full of shit and he could not complete the procedure, however he did get one poly out and it was tested and was negative. But because they did find one poly I was schedule for a colon X-ray this upcoming week. Now that a sucker. I drunk 2 full bottles of that nasty junk and was still full of shit. Now I got to do a barium enema x-ray. I hate doing these sucker. However maybe I will lose about 5 pounds. Heck a girl can hope and dream right!!
Good evening beautiful people. As you all know I am currently having major issues with my Acid Re-flux. I am currently taking three medications Famotidine 40 mg, Ranitidine 300 mg, Pantoprazole 40 mg. One in the morning and two at night. I am scheduled for a endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow and the preparation is something else.
Man first let me say this…I am hungry , I mean really hungry as I drink this apple juice. Every commercials on TV is showing restaurant ads and they looks so dang good. I caught myself licking my flat screen TV when they showed a Kristy Kreme commercial featuring their new pumpkin spice glaze donuts. Then they had the nerve to only offer those bad boys for one day. I know, I know I don’t suppose to be eating those bad boys anyway. But when you are hungry you will imagine yourself eating any and everything and I am starving. As soon as I finish this blog post I am going to bed so I can dream of chicken wings covered in all kinds of sauce.
The preparation for a colonoscopy is awfulllllll. Let me say that one more time it is dreadful, disgusting, atrocious, ghastly, unpleasant and I could go on with other words that mean the same thing as awful. But it will all mean the same…… the preparation for the procedure is something else. Because I have had the gastric bypass I could not do the usual prep and the doctor recommended that I buy two to three bottle of magnesium citrate, and drink those starting at 12:00 today. I went to the local Dollar General store and purchase 3 bottles and started drinking the first one. To say I want to throw up is a understatement. That crap is disgusting. I was burping and gagging all at the same time. It was so bad that my supervisor told me to go home. She was scared I was going to have a accident in the office. The doctor recommended that I try and drink one every hour until I was done. Man it took me two hours to get that crap down. The second one was faster however but the burping was out of the world. I could have burp a song I was burping so much. I also purchase several bottle of clear liquid to drink such as apple juice, white grape juice and for whatever reason I though I could eat apple sauce. I was wrong and the paperwork confirmed that. The doctor also said that it was important that I not consume anything red or purple because it could look like blood in my intestines when they doing the procedure so V8’s was out of the question which would have made me full.
Fast forward to now. (Warning this could be a TMI moment) I went to sleep because I was wanting to eat so badly and woke up to Shelly the Belly and my colon contracting, grunting and moaning like crazy. I stayed in the bathroom for about 30 minutes emptying my colon and I am still going. This is crazy, how can one person have this much crap. If I have to go one more time I will scream. I know I have flushed away at least 3 pounds.
Nevertheless I am scared, nervous and afraid because I want to know what is causing the excessive acid re-flux and I am nervous about the colonoscopy because of the history of cancer in my family. I got to quit googling my acid re-flux problems for gastric bypass patients because they give so many different reasons that this could be happening and my mind be in over drive worrying about it. However GOD got me and he always keeps me in the palm of his hands. I just can’t let my insecurity slide in. Keep me in your thoughts and prayers ladies and gents that the results will be good.
Good afternoon beautiful people. I have recently started having really bad acid reflux. It seems to be sitting right at the back of my throat causing nausea. I take my medication everyday and dodged anything that could make it start burning. However I have notice that something as simple as water makes it start up. One thing about Gastric bypass surgery is that acid reflux shouldn’t be a problem anymore because of how the stomach is rearranged. Well that’s not the case with me. Mine was bad before my surgery and still is!
Here is the kicker RNY Gastric Bypass procedure is considered the gold standard treatment for GERD in obese patients. The creation of our new small pouch is suppose to diverts most of the acid produced by the stomach away from the esophagus. I wished someone would tell my body that. Shoot I had to call my doctor to prescribed something stronger. I take two different pills a day one in the morning and one at night to alleviate the acid reflux. I am having a endoscopy and colonscopy next month at the same time to look at my pouch and I am having the colonscopy because colon cancer runs in my family. My mother had stage one colon cancer about two years ago and my Grandmother passed away from stage four colon cancer. Because of this I have to start having colonscopy at the age of 44 years old to prevent colon cancer.
I have to tell you something else I learned while looking up information about acid reflux after gastric bypass surgery. It was stated in one of the articles that I read that when you eat fatty foods this can also cause acid reflux because my little pouch is trying to break that illegal fat down. Thus causing extreme acid reflux. If this is the case it is nobody fault but my own. I know how I am suppose to eat and I deserve it by eating fatty foods and not following my nutrition guidelines. Shoot I tell you what this heifer right here has learned and I am ignoring all fatty foods…. don’t nobody got time for 24 hours, 7 days a week heartburn. Plus I am considering cutting out my one cup of caffeine filled coffee in the morning…. All I want is …..to be heartburn free. I do know when I see my gastric bypass doctor I would never tell him I googled my symptoms because doctors hate to hear that when they are examining you.
Nevertheless keep me in your thoughts and prayers as we figure out what is going on.
Good morning beautiful people. Last Thursday I had my yearly check up with the gastric bypass doctor. I have lost 23 pounds since my last visit… which was in July 2016.. With that being said he also gave me information on the next skin removal seminar that is coming up at the end of this month. I am planning on attending because my stomach and my bat wings are my biggest concern. My skin hangs from my under arm drastically and causes problems with wearing shirts and dresses. Those suckers make me sick. If I got into a fight I could hit somebody in the face with those jokers and knock their butt out. Shoot I believe I can take flight with those bad boys. When I wear clothing that show my arms …I tuck and hide the flab. My arms looks massive to me because of the loose skin.
My stomach area do have excess skin but I wear spank to pull it in. If I decide to do the surgery I would have the skin removed off of my stomach first. My thighs are jiggy also and I hate that… However I can live with that.
One of the question I had for Dr. Ross, my Gastric Bypass Doctor was about my protein intake. I know I average around 80 to 100 grams of protein and was considering adding a protein shake at night. He explained that I should only use one supplement for protein such as my morning protein shake and the rest should come from my food intake. He also said to much protein and b12 can cause medical problems after extensive use. So you know me I had to research that and this is what I found out. Dr Mercola explained in his website that “Eating more protein than your body needs can interfere with your health and fitness goals in a number of ways, including weight gain, extra body fat, stress on your kidneys, dehydration, and leaching of important bone minerals. ”
I mention B12 because the doctor said mine was extremely high and I need to cut my down to only 1000 grams a week. He also explained that continue high levels of high levels of B12 could lead to diseases. So again you know I had to research it …. it was explained on the News health guide that high levels of B12 “could lead to itchiness on different body parts and numbness, improper heart functioning, giddiness and regular headaches. The most serious side effect linked to overtime abuse of this vitamin, is increasing the risk of getting cancer. This vitamin helps in stimulating the process of cell division. It, however, cannot distinguish between the harmful and useful cells. Therefore, vitamin B12 prompts the growth and multiplication of even the cancerous cells.”
Nevertheless I was happy and satisfied with my check up and I am staying proactive and on top of my weight to ensure that I eventually meet my weight goal which is only about 35 pounds away.
Be blessed and have a stressed free day! Love, peace and happiness beautiful people!
Hey beautiful people! Sorry I haven’t been posting but it’s been crazy this last month at work. As you all know i consider myself a fashionista…. The cheap version. See this one right here will never ever own a pair of red bottom shoes unless someone send them to me free. This right cha here will never ever wear Verace clothing. Lol…I am just being real. If i ever win the lottery or get a my dream job making over 100 grand a year I still wouldn’t buy any because I can’t see paying those type of prices for clothing.
I know somebody looking at this post like what does this have to do with weight loss. A lot I say. When you are overweight you was limited in what and where you could purchase your clothing from. Now three years later it is better everybody is carrying size 26 all the way up to size 32. But back in 2014 which was just three year ago it was not that easy. I had started thinking about sewing and designing my own clothing because it was so hard to find clothing in my size that look good professionally. I know at that time Catherine’s and lane Bryant was out there but they are high also. At that time my favorite store Ashley Stewart didn’t go pass a 24 or 26. Cato’s Stores carried my size but you and every other person had the same outfit on.
Now fast forward to now… Clothes in my size 14 are everywhere. White, lime green , mauve, peach, orange all these colors…. Oh my what is a girl to do… But shop until she drop. My closet rods get mad everytime I hang something new in there.
I just celebrated my 3 years weight loss surgery anniversary on July 31. Being able to shop anywhere is the best reward for losing this weight. I love going to the Goodwill and putting pretty pieces together. It just something about feeling and looking good when you go out. Because I can reflect back before my weight loss surgery and I swore everybody was whispering about my weight behind my back. Shoot I remember the first time I flew on my first airplane flight, my sister had told me before hand to ask for a extender for the seat belt as soon as I got on to avoid any embarrassment of asking after I sat down. This was so true. Little things like that draw attention to your weight big time. Nevertheless this is not a problem anymore…. Because I know they are eagerly waiting just to see what I have on. (I have been told this numerous times) I have set the stage for me and only me…I can’t be better than nobody but me …..from two days ago.
GOD blessing! Stay blessed and not stressed! Love, peace and Happiness beautiful people!
Good morning beautiful people! I am so happy because I am coming up on my three year anniversary for my weight loss surgery at the end of this month. I have a doctor appointment to meet with my Gastric bypass surgery doctor to look at my progress and to help me continue to meet my goal. This has been such a great experience that there is no way I could ever regret having this surgery. My starting weight was 340 pounds. I currently weigh 205. I wear a size 14 in clothing whereas I use to wear a size 28 to size 30. My goal weight is still 175. So I got about 30 more pounds to drop.
Here are my pros since I had my RNY gastric bypass surgery.
One I can shop at any store now.
I can walk without having to feel like I am going to pass out or my feet and or back hurting.
I can actually take care of very personal hygiene thing without struggling.
I feel healthy
I am not a diabetic anymore
I can wear heels
I can sit in booth at a restaurant and not have to go to a table because my stomach is so big
I can buy pretty shoes
I can see my feet when standing up and looking down (my belly blocked my view previously)
I was able to have my hip replacement
The best one….I feel sexy, good and happy with me.
Now this is my personal journey and I am happy as heck about it. What’s for me is for me. My journey can’t be like the chick next door because we are two different people. My success may not be as great as someone else’s but I am happy with what I have accomplished. Because the truth be told I could still be that that overweight, depressed in pain lady with very low self esteem. I use to worry all the time that people was talking about me because of my weight. Now I walk through a crowd like I am parting the sea shouting “the queen is here.” I love the new me!!
