Review of my 3 month check up

Good morning beautiful people. Last Thursday I had my yearly check up with the gastric bypass doctor.  I have lost 23 pounds since my last visit… which was in July 2016..  With that being said he also gave me information on the next skin removal seminar that is coming up at the end of this month.   I am planning on attending because my stomach and my bat wings are my biggest concern.  My skin hangs from my under arm drastically and causes problems with wearing shirts and dresses.  Those suckers make me sick.  If I got into a fight I could hit somebody in the face with those jokers and knock their butt out.  Shoot I believe I can take flight with those bad boys.   When I wear clothing that show my arms …I tuck and hide the flab.  My arms looks massive to me because of the loose skin.

My stomach area do have excess skin but I wear spank to pull it in.  If I decide to do the surgery I would have the skin removed off of my stomach first.  My thighs are jiggy also and I hate that… However I can live with that.

One of the question I had for Dr. Ross, my Gastric Bypass Doctor was about my protein intake.  I know I average around 80 to 100 grams of protein and was considering adding a protein shake at night.  He explained that I should only use one supplement for protein such as my morning protein shake and the rest should come from my food intake.  He also said to much protein and b12 can cause medical problems after extensive use.  So you know me I had to research that and this is what I found out. Dr Mercola explained in his website that “Eating more protein than your body needs can interfere with your health and fitness goals in a number of ways, including weight gain, extra body fat, stress on your kidneys, dehydration, and leaching of important bone minerals. ”

I mention B12 because the doctor said mine was extremely high and I need to cut my down to only 1000 grams a week.  He also explained that continue high levels of high levels of B12 could lead to diseases.  So again you know I had to research it …. it was explained on the News health guide that high levels of B12 “could lead to itchiness on different body parts and numbness, improper heart functioning, giddiness and regular headaches. The most serious side effect linked to overtime abuse of this vitamin, is increasing the risk of getting cancer. This vitamin helps in stimulating the process of cell division. It, however, cannot distinguish between the harmful and useful cells. Therefore, vitamin B12 prompts the growth and multiplication of even the cancerous cells.”

Nevertheless I was happy and satisfied with my check up and I am staying proactive and on top of my weight to ensure that I eventually meet my weight goal which is only about 35 pounds away.

Be blessed and have a stressed free day!  Love, peace and happiness beautiful people!

My July 4th creations and hosting at my home

Good morning beautiful people!

I love hosting at my house for holidays and dinners.  I love family coming together enjoying themselves while trying new dishes I have made and they are my little guinea pigs.  What I detest is parents who don’t control their kids and let them run amuck all over my dang house.  Since I started hosting I have had three windows to get broken and nobody knows how it happened.  I end of chasing dang flies and whatever else got in the house for days.  Its like the dang parents forget they are parents and they let their kids do as they please because it’s not their house.  So yesterday… When this started happening I went off and scared the bejesus out of the kids.  Everytime they saw me coming they would run to their parent or grandparent.  Heck  I didn’t care.  If your little minions are under the age of 5 you need to keep those little bad boogies beside your butt.  I mean really I have two sets of stairs and the little rascals barely can walk and their mothers is not playing attention and the first place they head is the stairs. For whatever reason the stairs always attracts them first.  However not in my house …..or you can stay your butt home.  I am so dang tired because I chased those little suckers all night.  Next time I will make rules  about keeping  your kids with you.  I wished I had a stepper on..I know I walked over 10000  steps.

Rant over….Now as you can see from the videos and pictures I made three desserts.  Strawberry shortcake with cheesecake in the middle, Oreo cake with cheesecake in the middle, Red velvet Earthquake cake.  The best thing is I didn’t eat one piece.  I ate a pecan off the bottom of the red velvet Earthquake cake and that was it.  Shoot I only ate one hamburger patty and one half of a hotdog wenier.  I was to busy chasing  kids and fixing food.  Heck I know I didn’t get my protein in because I forgot to eat.  Lol. I will fixed that today.

Love, peace and happiness beautiful people!

Magic wand that makes your fat melt away

Good afternoon beautiful people!  I have been thinking about this writing this post for a few days and I finally got around to doing it.

I  got to start this blog off by saying this ……Weight loss surgery is not a cure all!  Let me say this one more time for those who are considering having this surgery.  There is no such things as waving a magic wand and all your fat just melt away for eternity. Weight loss surgery is not a cure all!

Now I know you are looking at this post and wondering why I am saying this and I am going to tell you why.  I have had several people who had this surgery and afterwards tell me…. they hate they did it.  They go on complaining about how their stomach hurts when they start trying to eat food that they were told not to eat.  Why is my stomach still big and why can’t I look like you?  Why is the scale not moving?  One friend even told me she hates protein shakes…and can’t stand to drink any.  But then she went on to tell me that her legs gave out on.  Here the thang….yes I said thang….. if you can’t do proteins shakes you better find something else to get those proteins in!  Shoot they have all kinds of other liquids with protein added.  You need that protein for those muscle… As for my friend……You know what I got to say about all of this…. WELCOME TO THE FREAKING CLUB you thought it was going to be easy.  WRONG.

This surgery is a life changing surgery that helps you reach your desired weight goal if you do what your doctor and nutritionist teaches you to do.  Yea, yea, you will lose weight…but I bet you a dollar after the weight has plateau around your 3rd year…that fat will return.  Here is thing …..food is everywhere and you are constantly seeing it and it always knocking at your door saying …”Tracy come and take a bite of this rich thick piece of chocolate brownie…it won’t hurt.”  (blank stare)  Yes, it will because you will go back numerous times just to bite that bad boy!  After surgery, you got to change your daily eating habits for weight loss to happen. Sometimes you even have to separate from friends or family members who tempts you to overeat.  Shoot I found myself on numerous occasions overeating just because I knew my son was watching my plate so he could eat my leftovers.  Oh man, lunch at work was really bad.  When I go out to eat…I can only take a few bites so I am always getting a takeout box to take my remains back to my office and guess what I do.  I nibble on that left over food all day.  Heck I don’t be hungry…I just eat it because it is there.  How I stopped this bad habit, required that I start bringing my lunch to the office. That way I controlled my eating better. If I do go to lunch I put my plate in fridge at the office and don’t get it out until I go home and I make sure it is a healthy meal.

pizza

Please understand I am not being a know it all.  I am just tired of the bull crap about how I took the easy route. Shoot all I did was take a short cut that lead me right back to the main highway and I still got to do what everybody else has to do.  Watch what I eat and exercise to keep the weight off.   If anything this journey is harder because when you over eat it causes pain and everything you have to go through to have the surgery.  Please let’s not forget all of the medicine that you are required to take for the rest of you life.  This is not the easily road…this is the hardest road with so many curve balls it is ridiculous.

You got to love you!

Good morning beautiful people!!! I want to discuss body image.   I know I am not the only one who will walk by something that shows your reflection  and think dang I am still fat.  You will notice your flabby arms, thick thighs and big gut and wonder why everybody keep saying you are melting away.   Because all you see is your former fat self.   Here is the thing that we got to remember is that…. the mind is deceiving YOU!   YOU have lost a significant about of weight.  YOU are making good food choices!  YOU got a lot to be proud of!  Body image can derail any weight loss goal.

However all you got to do is remember this phrase protein first.  I never understood this until later after my surgery how important this phrase was.  Protein first is a phase that everybody who ever had gastric bypass surgery needs to post on their refrigerator. Hang it in your bathroom, hang it from your stove, or it in the cabinet doors… So when you open the door you see it.   Make a bracelet, put it in your car, put it in your office refrigerator.  Shoot  put in on your home screen of your cell phone and lap top.  When you keep seeing this phrase everytime you go to eat anything you can control your eating  habits.  Unless you are over eating and stretching that pouch which will lead to weight gain.

What we have to understand is that protein is a nutrient that helps us feel fuller, longer. If we include proteins in each of our meals or healthy snacks, we’re less likely to feel hungry when it’s not time to eat.

I know you are wondering  what can I do to be effective to ensure that I lose and maintain my weight loss.  In my opinion the number one rule is to eat protein rich foods first. See here is the thing after  surgery, your body will need adequate protein to help build, repair, and maintain muscle tissue and organs. Protein deficiency can occur over an extended period of time which can cause fatigue, hair loss, and muscle wasting.   I remember when I was about three months out after my RNY gastric bypass… My fingernails were so soft and brittle I could barely stratch  myself. Then my big dumb self tried to cover them up with fake nails.  Omg… That hurt so bad it was crazy.   I hurried up and bought Boltin.  Then my hair started falling out also…. Talk about going thru.  That was a really hard period to go thru but I made it thru.  The hair issue was not so bad for me because I love wigs.
Just remember Proteins are one of the essential building blocks of the human body and you need them.

The next time you walk by something that shows your reflection.. Say to yourself.  I look good, and I am doing good therefore I am good! 😊  You got to encourage yourself!! Because you are your biggest motivator.  Love the skin you are in.  Because you could still be that former you.

Peace, Happiness and Love!!

3 more pounds gone bye bye sucker!

Good day beautiful people!!

I am on a losing streak and have started losing weight again after cutting all of my bad habits out…well about 95% of them.  Because lets be truthful… there is no way I can cut everything out.  It takes time and patience.  I know I am not the only one that will accidentally pick up a cookie and take a bite and then realize….. Oh Heck I can’t eat that.  But here is were I will pat myself on the back.  I will chew that one bite real slow and that’s all I eat.  Because as I have said several time since I started back blogging…..I will not go back to the Fat TRACY.  Look back at my previous post to see my picture were I weigh around 342 pound…here is the link to the picture.  This picture alone makes me control my eating habits From a size 28 to a size 14 and I love it!!!

I have seen so many people who has travel down this very same road that I am traveling down and they regain all their weight back.  My beautiful sister is one such person.  She gave me permission to discuss her weight regain.  Now mind you she has had several surgeries over the last 14 years.  She was 402 pounds when she had her surgery and she lost all the way down to 225 pounds.  Then she started having all these medical issues such as hiatal hernia and a umbilical hernia from all the loose skin that was removed.  She also had hernias repaired and starting holding on to her weight and gain 5 pounds here and there.  Then when she finally seem to be getting better she had a serious bowel obstruction, diverticulitis and abscesses on the left side on her colon which she also had to have surgery for.  So she had several major surgeries that really derailed her weight loss and when you are sick.  You don’t really focus on what you eating because you are in so much pain which she was.   Thanks Nikki for letting me share your story.  Now here is the thing this could be  me or anybody else.  We have to stay focus and stop any bad behaviors that starts to pop up. Now with my sister I believe her was different because she had so many difficulty surgeries that really causes her severe issues.  I do believe that you are able to reset your weight loss and start over.  Because I have did it, even though I am only about 3 years out.  I know my weight gain wasn’t nothing like Nikki but as I said before a 10 pounds gain, will lead to another 10 pound gain and before you know it you have gain about half of what you  lost.

I am so happy to report as of today which will makes it a week since I started doing everything correctly and cut so much negative behaviors out I have lost a total of 6 pounds in a week time!! I feel like I did when I first had the surgery and I was dropping weight like raindrops.  I am getting a lot of water in and doing only the required protein amount for protein shakes in the morning which is 30 grams proteins in one shake.  Eating chicken, turkey, protein bars, Greek yogurts throughout the day.

I never really started eating bread. It was those dang snacks…potato chips, cheese puffs, popcorn loaded with butter. Which for whatever reason never filled me up, that got me.  These are called slider food.  Slider food are soft simple processed carbohydrates of little or no nutritional value that slide right through the surgical stomach pouch without providing nutrition or satiation. Satiation is define: as to satisfy to the full.  Meaning you will not get full like you will with a couple of bites of grill chicken or turkey, etc.  In other words those potato chips that I loved would slide right through my little pouch ( Her name is Shelly) not filling me up at all. So in the process my butt would eat a whole bag …big or small.  I know, I know “Tracy why did you even start eating those again.”  I will tell you why because I was stupid.  Because when I first reintroduced them to my new pouch.. Shelly the belly cut up like a fool. I would dump like crazy! Now they don’t bother me at all.

So I am warning you right now Slider foods are your enemy!! Do not I repeat do not start eating them little bad suckers.

We have to remember that for Gastric bypass patients the process of digestion is different than those who have not undergone gastric surgery. When slider foods are eaten they go into the stomach pouch and exit directly into the jejunum (the part of the small intestine between the duodenum and ileum) where the simple carbohydrate is quickly absorbed and stored by the body as dang fat. Because these are simple carbohydrate no energy is even used when they are digested. Nevertheless because of my bad eating habits there was a weight gain and my weight loss plateau.  The whole point of  Shelly the belly being created by my doctor was to help me lose weight and keep it off.  Shelly the belly  should have caused me to have feelings of tightness or restriction when I ate enough food. However, when I ate those dang chips and bad snacks I didn’t have feeling of tightness or restriction..so I would continue to eat them.  The feeling of discomfort is intended to signal the my butt to stop eating.   I have learned and you don’t have to tell me now…….. to remember the number one rule “Protein First”. Sorry people that this is so long.  But I wanted to post this information because it may help somebody from traveling down this road like I did.

Peace, love and Happiness!!

Tracy

P.S.  Here is a list of some slider foods:

Pretzels, crackers (saltines, graham, Ritz, etc.) filled cracker snacks such as Ritz Bits, popcorn, ice cream, cookies, cheese snacks (Cheetos) or cheese crackers, tortilla chips with salsa, potato chips, sugar-free cookies, cakes, and candy.

Celebrating a 3 pounds lost!

Good afternoon beautiful people!

I am on a come back and I am celebrating like it is 1999!  Since I started cutting all those fatty foods out and doing what my nutritionist recommended I have lost 3 pounds this week.  She and I discussed my coffee and lack of water intake and she told me that I was only allowed one cup a day.  She explained the importance of me getting my required amount of water.  She also explained that  coffee contains Caffeine  which is a diuretic which means that it increases the amount that you urinate and it dehydrates  you.  Nevertheless I knew that I was not consuming enough water on a daily basis.  The coffee and caffeine was just complicating my the situation even more.  The nutritionist also say that to much coffee can cause you to have stomach ulcers.  So guess what….. Your girl will only do one cup of coffee and I have increased my water intake alot to the required 64 ounces a day.   I schedule a follow appointment for her this month.  I will also start doing the post op classes located at my Gastric bypass doctor office.  This will help me stay focus and on the correct path.

I am so proud of myself and as a result I am going to fix myself a treat.  I know you are thinking oh here she go….getting ready to self sabotage again.  No, no, no  let me explain.   I am going to try a recipe for blueberry muffins that  are low in fat and carbs, sugar free and loaded with proteins.  I will do a post about the nutrition and add a picture if  they turn out good.  This may be a healthy item that I can have daily.

God blessing

Love, peace and happiness!

Digging deep down and pulling myself back up!

vitaminGood morning beautiful people!!

  • Well today is not good day for your girl.  I have notice that I am feeling really tired and drained.  I can’t really figure out what is going on.  So while doing my research on my protein intake for  my protein limits in one shake I look over the vitamins requirement and remember that I hadn’t taken a Vitamin D in months.  I don’t know if this is what is making me feel sluggish and tired.  However I am going to the drug store today and purchase a couple of jars.  I have always taken:
  • my multivitamin
  • Blood pressure,
  • GERD (Acid reflux)
  • Fluid retention
  • B-12,
  • Biotin

However I have been iffy about the Calcium citrate  and potassium pills because I always took it 4 hours later.  Well that stops today.  I have put alarm on my phone to remind to take pills at lunch time and around 4:00 for my other dose.  I believe I am far enough out after my surgery to develop deficiencies from not taking these vitamins.

Now before you start hollering “are you stupid you know you got to take that Vitamin D.”  Let me explain how it slipped my mind.  I ran out of vitamin D and threw the bottle in the trash and was going to pick a bottle up and just forgot about it.  I mean really I had so much stuff going on last year.  Which is when I think I stop taking that vitamin.  I was going through and still going though some major personal stuff.  I was schedule to have my hip replaced around the first of August and it was canceled because I starting have severe pain in my stomach.  I thought I was dumping.  However I was wrong…it was my gallbladder.  So I had to have a two surgery last August to have my gallbladder removed and two weeks later they had to go back in the old stomach and remove a gallstones that had travel down my bile duct and they were not able to get it when I had the gallbladder remove.  Now just imagine have two surgery in one month on your stomach area.  (ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE:  IF YOU HURT IN YOUR STOMACH!! SKIP YOUR LOCAL ER (emergency room).  IF YOU HAD THE GASTRIC BYPASS THEY WILL NOT TOUCH YOU WITH A 12 FEET POLE. Go to your ER Hospital where you had your gastric bypass and call your gastric bypass doctor.)  This is how I forgot.

I know this is new news to everyone because my blogging has gotten really bad and I am trying to correct that now. Because this is information that people need to know to help them as they travel down this path.

I did talk to my nutritionist and she did inform me that I was taking too much protein at one time. She explained that all I need was one cup of milk, and one scoop of my protein in one drink.  She said do not included Greek yogurt.  She also made appointment for me to come in meet with her and I signed up for the classes for Post Op therapy group to help me with getting back on track.  I am being really proactive and I am going to have to make sure I don’t fall off again.  I have also decided to start going to my YMCA near my office and exercise during lunch.  What I am able to eat only take a few minutes and I rarely go out to lunch with my coworkers because I feel like I waste money.  I mean really I don’t eat enough to even go anywhere. I come out better just eating a can of chicken or tuna.  Plus when I go out to eat. There is always a lot of food left over and I end up getting a take out tray and guess what I do with that plate…I nibble on it all day while at the office.   So I want to exercise and during that time. Plus it gets me out of this dang office.  I will still go in the evening with my son also to the YMCA.

Any suggestions would greatly help. Because we all know that this is a trial and error program and you learn by listening and talking about your experiences with others.

Love, Peace and Happiness!
