Magic wand that makes your fat melt away

Good afternoon beautiful people!  I have been thinking about this writing this post for a few days and I finally got around to doing it.

I  got to start this blog off by saying this ……Weight loss surgery is not a cure all!  Let me say this one more time for those who are considering having this surgery.  There is no such things as waving a magic wand and all your fat just melt away for eternity. Weight loss surgery is not a cure all!

Now I know you are looking at this post and wondering why I am saying this and I am going to tell you why.  I have had several people who had this surgery and afterwards tell me…. they hate they did it.  They go on complaining about how their stomach hurts when they start trying to eat food that they were told not to eat.  Why is my stomach still big and why can’t I look like you?  Why is the scale not moving?  One friend even told me she hates protein shakes…and can’t stand to drink any.  But then she went on to tell me that her legs gave out on.  Here the thang….yes I said thang….. if you can’t do proteins shakes you better find something else to get those proteins in!  Shoot they have all kinds of other liquids with protein added.  You need that protein for those muscle… As for my friend……You know what I got to say about all of this…. WELCOME TO THE FREAKING CLUB you thought it was going to be easy.  WRONG.

This surgery is a life changing surgery that helps you reach your desired weight goal if you do what your doctor and nutritionist teaches you to do.  Yea, yea, you will lose weight…but I bet you a dollar after the weight has plateau around your 3rd year…that fat will return.  Here is thing …..food is everywhere and you are constantly seeing it and it always knocking at your door saying …”Tracy come and take a bite of this rich thick piece of chocolate brownie…it won’t hurt.”  (blank stare)  Yes, it will because you will go back numerous times just to bite that bad boy!  After surgery, you got to change your daily eating habits for weight loss to happen. Sometimes you even have to separate from friends or family members who tempts you to overeat.  Shoot I found myself on numerous occasions overeating just because I knew my son was watching my plate so he could eat my leftovers.  Oh man, lunch at work was really bad.  When I go out to eat…I can only take a few bites so I am always getting a takeout box to take my remains back to my office and guess what I do.  I nibble on that left over food all day.  Heck I don’t be hungry…I just eat it because it is there.  How I stopped this bad habit, required that I start bringing my lunch to the office. That way I controlled my eating better. If I do go to lunch I put my plate in fridge at the office and don’t get it out until I go home and I make sure it is a healthy meal.

Please understand I am not being a know it all.  I am just tired of the bull crap about how I took the easy route. Shoot all I did was take a short cut that lead me right back to the main highway and I still got to do what everybody else has to do.  Watch what I eat and exercise to keep the weight off.   If anything this journey is harder because when you over eat it causes pain and everything you have to go through to have the surgery.  Please let’s not forget all of the medicine that you are required to take for the rest of you life.  This is not the easily road…this is the hardest road with so many curve balls it is ridiculous.

I am making progress

weightloss

Hey beautiful people!!

I know it is late in the night and I need to have my sleep deprived butt in the bed. However I got to pat myself on the back for my performance today and yesterday also for refusing that sweet fresh out the oven still warm Kristy Kreme donut.

Today a beautiful, succulent moist cake was brought into the staff meeting for a coworker who is leaving my agency.  Oh man, my mouth started watering, and I was wiping saliva from my lips but I did not touch one piece of that delectable, delicious looking cake.  I turned down my piece because all I could see was the scale sliding closer to another five pound gain.  I mean really in my head I could picture it doing it and number going up.

See here is thing when you start introducing those sugary and fatty foods back into your system you get the taste for them again.  The next thing you know you are eating it on the regular. I refused to go back to the old Tracy who is overweight and can’t stand for more than 15 minutes and my feet start numbing. Or the Old Tracy who was so overweight that she was having problems wiping her own butt!! Heck yea I said.  I had let me weight get so out of control that my short little stubby arms had to fight tooth and nail just to wipe my butt. I could lie and say that I was fat and fabulous but I was would be telling a LIE.  Shoot I hated to go to Walmart because the store was so big and I hated walking.

Here is another tool I use also…Reminiscing about the old Fat Tracy Days!   I remember when I first started my job and we had to go to a training in a city about 50 miles away from our office.  We went to this Thai restaurant for lunch and oh man I will never forget this…when I went to sit in the chair at the table it was really snug.  I decided to slide forward so I could be closer to the table because my belly was so big and I didn’t want to drop food on my shirt. This happen a lot because I had to bring the food over my extended enlarge stomach.  When I tried to scoot closer to the table … the dang leg in back of the chair broke and my big butt fell in the floor. OH my gosh!! I was so embarrassed and as a coworker help me up. I gave praises to the good Lord above that there was only a few people in the restaurant that witness my epic crash.  To say I was embarrassed in an understatement.

This is how the fat girl chair check started. I know you are looking at the computer and wondering what the heck is the fat girl chair check. Let me explain…. Whenever I go to any restaurant, I check the chairs at the table to make sure it is stable and can hold my weight. I still do this even though I am smaller because I was so embarrassed when I fell.  These are the type of memories that I am using to motivate myself to stay on track and to continue losing the weight.

I do know that I got to get better with my exercise and attend the YMCA at least 3 days a week or better yet use my treadmill here at the house.  I have so much going on, however that is just a excuse.  I can’t keep making that same old excuse.  I can make time and I will start making time.  If I did as much as I planned on doing in my head.  I would weight 150 pounds right now.

Farewell everyone!! Have a blessed day

Peace, Happiness, Love

Digging deep down and pulling myself back up!

vitaminGood morning beautiful people!!

  • Well today is not good day for your girl.  I have notice that I am feeling really tired and drained.  I can’t really figure out what is going on.  So while doing my research on my protein intake for  my protein limits in one shake I look over the vitamins requirement and remember that I hadn’t taken a Vitamin D in months.  I don’t know if this is what is making me feel sluggish and tired.  However I am going to the drug store today and purchase a couple of jars.  I have always taken:
  • my multivitamin
  • Blood pressure,
  • GERD (Acid reflux)
  • Fluid retention
  • B-12,
  • Biotin

However I have been iffy about the Calcium citrate  and potassium pills because I always took it 4 hours later.  Well that stops today.  I have put alarm on my phone to remind to take pills at lunch time and around 4:00 for my other dose.  I believe I am far enough out after my surgery to develop deficiencies from not taking these vitamins.

Now before you start hollering “are you stupid you know you got to take that Vitamin D.”  Let me explain how it slipped my mind.  I ran out of vitamin D and threw the bottle in the trash and was going to pick a bottle up and just forgot about it.  I mean really I had so much stuff going on last year.  Which is when I think I stop taking that vitamin.  I was going through and still going though some major personal stuff.  I was schedule to have my hip replaced around the first of August and it was canceled because I starting have severe pain in my stomach.  I thought I was dumping.  However I was wrong…it was my gallbladder.  So I had to have a two surgery last August to have my gallbladder removed and two weeks later they had to go back in the old stomach and remove a gallstones that had travel down my bile duct and they were not able to get it when I had the gallbladder remove.  Now just imagine have two surgery in one month on your stomach area.  (ALSO IMPORTANT NOTE:  IF YOU HURT IN YOUR STOMACH!! SKIP YOUR LOCAL ER (emergency room).  IF YOU HAD THE GASTRIC BYPASS THEY WILL NOT TOUCH YOU WITH A 12 FEET POLE. Go to your ER Hospital where you had your gastric bypass and call your gastric bypass doctor.)  This is how I forgot.

I know this is new news to everyone because my blogging has gotten really bad and I am trying to correct that now. Because this is information that people need to know to help them as they travel down this path.

I did talk to my nutritionist and she did inform me that I was taking too much protein at one time. She explained that all I need was one cup of milk, and one scoop of my protein in one drink.  She said do not included Greek yogurt.  She also made appointment for me to come in meet with her and I signed up for the classes for Post Op therapy group to help me with getting back on track.  I am being really proactive and I am going to have to make sure I don’t fall off again.  I have also decided to start going to my YMCA near my office and exercise during lunch.  What I am able to eat only take a few minutes and I rarely go out to lunch with my coworkers because I feel like I waste money.  I mean really I don’t eat enough to even go anywhere. I come out better just eating a can of chicken or tuna.  Plus when I go out to eat. There is always a lot of food left over and I end up getting a take out tray and guess what I do with that plate…I nibble on it all day while at the office.   So I want to exercise and during that time. Plus it gets me out of this dang office.  I will still go in the evening with my son also to the YMCA.

Any suggestions would greatly help. Because we all know that this is a trial and error program and you learn by listening and talking about your experiences with others.

Love, Peace and Happiness!

Playing the waiting game..

Image

My current doctor decided to go ahead and submit me for my surgery approval anyway. I agree because I felt that United Healthcare should have caught this before we got this far. I mean we completed everything. Now we are playing a waiting game, waiting to see if they are going to approve the surgery. I do have a tentative date of April 22, 2014.   If everything is approved I will start my liquid diet next week. Saying my blessing and hoping for the best.

My daughter has lost over 20 pounds since she started actively attending the YMCA. She is dancing around and singing like a champ. The reason I am so proud of my daughter weight loss is because she and a group of childhood friends are all actively attending the YMCA at least 3 or 4 times a week. She has stop drinking soda and cut her bread intake down a lot. My son has also lost more weight and was recently told by one of his coaches that he was 90 percent muscle when they did his body mass. Now this has really made him happy and this boy/man is really flexing his muscle. My kids have even taken everything to another level and are completing who can lose the most weight between the two, who can bench more weights, etc. He also made the honor roll again straight As. He loves football and want to play college football at University of Florida and has the desire to go pro. But I know that is like a trying to find a needle in a haystack and I really encourage and promote grades above everything else.   His size does catch everyone eyes…he is 5’9 weight in his 200s and is strong as heck.  I love my two kids so much they are really making me so proud.

On another note: I am currently in the process of planning my family reunion for my father’s side of the family and I have to say it is the most stressful thing I have ever did. First of all people have really gotten tight with their money and do not want to spend any. Everybody wants things for free. They don’t want plan anything but they are quick to stalk me and ask about the reunion.   I really don’t mind planning it…but I would like for the people to at least come out the pocket for something.   One family members have really went out his way and paid the rent for building that we using for the reunion.   I would love to have the event cater but that out the question because these people wouldn’t’ come out the pocket for the building so I know that is not going to happen. My only suggestions were that every family member brings one meat, one starch, one vegetable and one dessert and two drinks. Everything has to be enough for a family of four. The main thing is to reconnect with family whom we haven’t seen in years.   The last time we had a reunion was 10 years ago.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to make this reunion a success.

Please, Love and Blessing

Open, wounded and recovering

Image

Sometimes in life we all encounter obstacles that will set us back or knock us down.  Last Saturday, I lost my last aunt on my father’s side she was only 54 years old.  One reason this death hurt so much is because we had recently lost her older sister in September of 2013.  When you are dealing with something so painful it is really hard to keep up healthy eating.   Because you are  in pain and really in your feelings…. the last thing you are thinking about is counting calories.  I can admit that I did get off of track.  Right now I have gotten back on track and focusing on dealing with their absences.

During this trying time all I could think about is ….what I could have done different and how I wished I had spent more time with each one of them. Death leaves you open and wounded as if someone have removed a piece of your heart and it is forever gone.  My hardest task is helping my children to understand and learn how to cope with death.   I suggested that they dig deep and prepare themselves because this will not be the last one and I encouraged them to pray and ask GOD for guidance during this time.

I have one uncle left and I hate to admit it but we are not really close.   He really took it hard and is also having a hard time coping.  My sisters, cousins and I are currently reaching out to him and trying to bring everyone closing.  If we are successful we don’t really know but we will do our best and try.

Love, Peace and Hope
