Good day beautiful people!!
I am on a losing streak and have started losing weight again after cutting all of my bad habits out…well about 95% of them. Because lets be truthful… there is no way I can cut everything out. It takes time and patience. I know I am not the only one that will accidentally pick up a cookie and take a bite and then realize….. Oh Heck I can’t eat that. But here is were I will pat myself on the back. I will chew that one bite real slow and that’s all I eat. Because as I have said several time since I started back blogging…..I will not go back to the Fat TRACY. Look back at my previous post to see my picture were I weigh around 342 pound…here is the link to the picture. This picture alone makes me control my eating habits From a size 28 to a size 14 and I love it!!!
I have seen so many people who has travel down this very same road that I am traveling down and they regain all their weight back. My beautiful sister is one such person. She gave me permission to discuss her weight regain. Now mind you she has had several surgeries over the last 14 years. She was 402 pounds when she had her surgery and she lost all the way down to 225 pounds. Then she started having all these medical issues such as hiatal hernia and a umbilical hernia from all the loose skin that was removed. She also had hernias repaired and starting holding on to her weight and gain 5 pounds here and there. Then when she finally seem to be getting better she had a serious bowel obstruction, diverticulitis and abscesses on the left side on her colon which she also had to have surgery for. So she had several major surgeries that really derailed her weight loss and when you are sick. You don’t really focus on what you eating because you are in so much pain which she was. Thanks Nikki for letting me share your story. Now here is the thing this could be me or anybody else. We have to stay focus and stop any bad behaviors that starts to pop up. Now with my sister I believe her was different because she had so many difficulty surgeries that really causes her severe issues. I do believe that you are able to reset your weight loss and start over. Because I have did it, even though I am only about 3 years out. I know my weight gain wasn’t nothing like Nikki but as I said before a 10 pounds gain, will lead to another 10 pound gain and before you know it you have gain about half of what you lost.
I am so happy to report as of today which will makes it a week since I started doing everything correctly and cut so much negative behaviors out I have lost a total of 6 pounds in a week time!! I feel like I did when I first had the surgery and I was dropping weight like raindrops. I am getting a lot of water in and doing only the required protein amount for protein shakes in the morning which is 30 grams proteins in one shake. Eating chicken, turkey, protein bars, Greek yogurts throughout the day.
I never really started eating bread. It was those dang snacks…potato chips, cheese puffs, popcorn loaded with butter. Which for whatever reason never filled me up, that got me. These are called slider food. Slider food are soft simple processed carbohydrates of little or no nutritional value that slide right through the surgical stomach pouch without providing nutrition or satiation. Satiation is define: as to satisfy to the full. Meaning you will not get full like you will with a couple of bites of grill chicken or turkey, etc. In other words those potato chips that I loved would slide right through my little pouch ( Her name is Shelly) not filling me up at all. So in the process my butt would eat a whole bag …big or small. I know, I know “Tracy why did you even start eating those again.” I will tell you why because I was stupid. Because when I first reintroduced them to my new pouch.. Shelly the belly cut up like a fool. I would dump like crazy! Now they don’t bother me at all.
So I am warning you right now Slider foods are your enemy!! Do not I repeat do not start eating them little bad suckers.
We have to remember that for Gastric bypass patients the process of digestion is different than those who have not undergone gastric surgery. When slider foods are eaten they go into the stomach pouch and exit directly into the jejunum (the part of the small intestine between the duodenum and ileum) where the simple carbohydrate is quickly absorbed and stored by the body as dang fat. Because these are simple carbohydrate no energy is even used when they are digested. Nevertheless because of my bad eating habits there was a weight gain and my weight loss plateau. The whole point of Shelly the belly being created by my doctor was to help me lose weight and keep it off. Shelly the belly should have caused me to have feelings of tightness or restriction when I ate enough food. However, when I ate those dang chips and bad snacks I didn’t have feeling of tightness or restriction..so I would continue to eat them. The feeling of discomfort is intended to signal the my butt to stop eating. I have learned and you don’t have to tell me now…….. to remember the number one rule “Protein First”. Sorry people that this is so long. But I wanted to post this information because it may help somebody from traveling down this road like I did.
